A street in Liverpool between
Dale and
Tithebarn Streets. Formerly one of the oldest lanes in Liverpool - Dig Lane. Re-named Cheapside in 1725 after an area of London that derived from the old English word for market;
Lowry refers to the street in his novel
Ultramarine; "and old Matt the riveter, who lived in Cheapside.." (Pg. 22) and "I lived in Cheapside then -" (Pg. 178)
