Lockerbie is a town in the Dumfries and Galloway region of south-western Scotland. It lies approximately 75 miles (121 km) from Glasgow, and 20 miles (32 km) from the English border.
There is no documentary evidence that Lowry visited the town. Lowry refers to the town in his first novel Ultramarine; "..and twenty to Lockerbie - there was a picture show at Lockerbie, once a week; and me and my lass used to go down there in the boss’s car-“ (Pg. 67)
