The American Hospital in Paris

Located at 63, Bd. Victor Hugo - 92200 Neuilly-sur-Seine. Opened in 1904 by Dr. A.J. Magnin and Harry Antony van Bergen to offer American expatriates access to care provided by physicians trained in the United States. Possibly the hospital referred to ‘In Le Havre’ and potentially where Jan Gabrial had her abortion in 1934. Referred to indirectly in The 1940 Under The Volcano as Yvonne has an abortion in Paris. Lowry spent 10 days in the hospital in April/May 1948 due to his alcoholism.
